What is Transtand?

The PSP Program originated through collaboration among leading Manufacturers and Dealer Service Providers in the Powersports industry. These leading companies worked through the Powersports industry's not-for-profit trade association - The Motorcycle Industry Council - to develop a solution for the inefficiencies throughout the industry in communicating electronic data.

While the PSP Program was expanding within the Powersports industry, other similar industries began seeking a solution for efficient data communication among their dealerships and suppliers. Due to a large overlap of participants in these industries, the PSP Program was identified as the best choice for the additional industries, leading to the expansion of the PSP Program outside of the Powersports industry.

Based on the requirements to maintain its not-for-profit status, the Motorcycle Industry Council was not able to directly serve these new industries. As a result, a new legal entity was established, called "Transtand."

Transtand is led by an elected Board of Directors which sets the policies and direction for Transtand. The day-to-day resources involved are the same personnel which constitute the "PSP Team" at the Motorcycle Industry Council. The difference is how resource tracking is performed. When resources are allocated to Powersports-industry activities, the resource tracking is assigned to the Motorcycle Industry Council. When resources are allocated outside of the Powersports industry, the resource tracking assigns the allocaton to Transtand. Revenue and expenses allocated outside of the Powersports industry, and thus allocated to Transtand, are taxable.
